“Ghosts in Architecture” by Silent

“I’m going to travel far away to the country of thieves and ghosts” - Bram Stoker

Ghosts in Architecture” is the collaboration of designer Damir Doma, image maker Malcom Pate, and electronic music pioneer DJ Hell.

The exclusive video Installation explores the essence and core of the Damir Doma’s universe, further enhancing his quest to fuse mind, body and spirit.

Romeo and Juliet from stone and cement; two buildings, one dark and female the other light and male are uncontrollably drawn to each other in a dark void. Their courtship is like a monumental ballet, slowly drawing closer and closer to one another. The male form springs out of the light, twisting and curling beneath his stone skin, while the female form writhes behind her ashen concrete.

Ghosts in architecture will be presented in Berlin during Fashion week at and exclusive launch event.

Damir Doma’s collections seem lit by a soft, melancholic quest for fluidity. Inspired by identity’s multiple expressions and the link with the fragile, ephemeral quality of the body, he creates pieces that explore interpretations of contemporary masculinity.

The Croatian-born designer grew up in Germany and studied fashion in Munich and Berlin, where he graduated in 2004 with magna cum laude for the best collection.

The young designer then went to Antwerp, where he worked for Raf Simons and Dirk Schoenberger. It was his time spent at Raf Simons in particular that broadened and shaped Doma’s perception of fashion and the arts. Under Simon’s mentorship, the creation of his personal aesthetics was kindled; leading him to infuse soulfulness and sensitivity into his work.

SILENT
SILENT is the avant-garde casual collection designed by Damir Doma and his creative team. SILENT is the antitheses to loud mass-market fashion. The range of soft and flowing jerseys, denim, leather bags and accessories are all considered, avoiding excessive design elements whilst retaining as much of the fabric’s raw & organic form as possible. The result is a line of beautiful, effortless garments that are truly wearable and will work alone or as part of a complete look.

“Natural, Pure, Raw and Effortless….” Silent - Spring/Summer 2011

SILENT is the casual collection, created by the acclaimed Parisian avant-garde label Damir Doma. Renouncing decorative elements, the designs centre on pure, soft shapes and fluid volumes.

First presented in October 2009 during the women’s fashion week in Paris, SILENT offers a beautifully finished range of jersey’s, knits, and woven pieces as well as leather, and woven jackets, shoes, bags and accessories made from carefully selected materials.

As the antitheses to loud mass-market fashion of today, the SILENT designs avoid excessive elements whilst retaining as much of the fabric’s raw & organic form as possible. The result is beautiful and the loose fit let the wearer look effortlessly styled.

The Spring/Summer 2011 SILENT collection continues to expand with the addition of news styles, but also focuses on interpreting the loose and twisted shapes of previous collections and adapting these styles further in tune with the bodies shape. Soft jerseys, woven’s and lighter knits are finished with a new dusty dyeing effect while the refined colour selection includes Ivory, Olive Grey, Dark Grey, Black and Mustard Yellow.

Silent is the state we are in when we are freed of thoughts, of noise or of any other distraction.

It is in silence that we can clear our minds and focus on details that would otherwise be overseen.

Confronted with a world that becomes more noisy every day, we can close our eyes and hear the music behind the roaring sound of a city -the enduring play of silence and sound.

For it is when we are silent, that we can truly admire and embrace the essence of something.
We are left in state of purity and peacefulness, open to embrace the surrounding. - Damir Doma

The “Arrival” of Damir Doma 2010 Autumn/Winter Collection

The 2010 autumn/winter collection of Damir Doma has arrived, Arrrival, about which fashion group Paper Rain writes:

“From a place where sound and light rain, proud architects, and silent monks arrive. Emerging from their isolated being, they encounter one another and create harmonious sounds. Where chaos transforms into structure, they guide us through their monumental world.

Damir Doma’s lords are draped in cocoon- and A-shaped oversized coats, monk pants, and sarongs wrapped around their waists. Layers of heavy tweeds and organic dry earth and black and white prints create an overwhelming intensity.
With an understanding of humility and purity, Doma eliminates the unnecessary and concentrates on the essentials of shapes and forms, resulting in a heightened appreciation for simplicity. No buttons or unnecessary trimmings were added to the garments to maintain its integrity and mutual respect for the individual and nature.

The volumes and shapes merge into classic shades in various tones of grey, brown, and black and give a whole new perspective to Doma’s vision. We see luxurious cashmeres and wools, high quality cottons, and the softest of leathers in Doma’s signature soft tailoring.

Damir Doma’s quest to fuse mind, body, and spirit stands as a trinity with fabrics, colors, and shades as its loyal disciples.

Inspired by arts, architecture, and anatomy, the Damir Doma collections appeal to versatile and complex avant-garde minds all over the world.”

SILENT by Damir Doma & Paper Rain

Ideas are born as creative ideas are poured out onto blank pieces of paper. Life occurs as rain is poured forth onto the earth—hence, the fashion group Paper Rain.

Embarking on his own collection in 2006, Damir Doma joined the Paper Rain Group in 2007 with an outstanding debut at Paris Fashion Week, where he began to draw a sizable following with his sheer layered fabrics and draped silhouettes.

Last October, Damir Doma launched a new collection, SILENT, which adheres to a purist philosophy of high-fashion aesthetics and accessible prices.

SILENT operates in a realm of pure, natural, and honest garments, which are conscientiously produced in an ecologically friendly way.

Damir Doma: A Melancholic Quest for Fluidity

Born 1981 in Croatia, the young and talented designer Damir Doma continues his delicate quest for the super-eclectic fluidity of spring/summer 2010.

Raised in Germany where he not only studied fashion but also graduated with magna cum laude for the best collection, Damir Doma apprenticed in Antwerp, Belgium, under Raf Simons and Dirk Schoenberger.

While an apprentice, Damir began breathing soulful sensitivity into his creations, which now flow gracefully down runways all over the world in sheer fabrics, waving layers, and draped silhouettes.

Gentleness, tranquility, and serenity all enliven Damir’s collections as he drawls inspiration from nature and artists like Gottfried Helnwein, Joseph Beuys, and Gerhard Richte.

For spring/summer 2010, Damir Doma continues his balanced pursuit of philosophy and spirituality, harmonizing the body and spirit into a new spiritual freedom that liberates the mind.

Damir Doma—A Wholistic Flow towards Serenity

Gaze into the eyes of Damir Doma and tell me what you perceive. I see a gentle billow of tranquility, as it were, that almost ebbs into a melancholic quest for a fluid, free-flowing existence of the masculine soul.

With profound imagination, Damir has emitted his inner being into layers of sheer fabrics and draped silhouettes, which thereby materialize in his 2009 a/w collection.

Nomadic like the soul as taught by the ancients, each silhouette conveys a deep longing for delicate, unhindered serenity.

Damir’s 2010 spring/summer collection triumphs in releasing the soul through voluminous pieces that emanate a sense of spiritual freedom and fuse body, mind, and spirit into a pleroma of primal fullness.

The white speaks of purity; red, of the energy that surges through our veins; and black—contemplation of the beginning and the end, the alpha and omega, and the discovery of the unknown.

The Icy Hot World of Damir Doma

Most of us men have grown accustomed to the type of menswear that adheres to the confines of structure, focusing on specific colors and styles. But how many of us own a garment or attire, which tells a story that grants freedom and movement to the human soul?

Croatian-born Damir Doma was raised in a family of designers, in Germany where he studied fashion and design. After graduating in 2004 with magna cum laude for the best collection, Damir ventured to Antwerp to work for Raf Simons, who inspired the young man to release his inner sensitivity of the external world around him.

Just two years later, Damir created his own label and launched his first collection at the Paris Fashion Week in 2007. His collections are unique in that they intertwine the works of renowned artists, his interpretation of the natural world, and his own personal emotions. Damir does so by artistically overlaying fabric upon fabric, which not only covers the fragility of the masculine body but also reveals what lies beneath: the unrestrained nature of the free-flowing soul.

Close your eyes and imagine the icy serenity of an arctic glacial flow or the warm fluidity of the wind-blown dunes across the Sahara. Apparently opposites in the natural world, they are both calm, unexplored, and timeless—familiar images that are actually unknown strangers to us all.

Envision the solitude of a masterpiece silhouette affixed to a wall of cracked stucco in an aging gallery with a delicately flowing white cloth draped over it.

Dive into Damir’s world of art, nature, and emotions and explore your sensitivity to the world around you when you click here.
