Comune Launches “Sandanista”—

An Exclusive Collection and Pop-Up Brand for Pacsun

Costa Mesa, CA – September 21, 2010 – COMUNE has launched “SANDANISTA”, a new and exclusive Pop-Up brand for US based retailer, PacSun.

From the mind of Frank Delgadillo, founder of contemporary street and creative culture brand, COMUNE that launched in Fall 2009, fast forward to his latest endeavor and Pop-Up brand concept, SANDANISTA.

SANDANISTA is an exclusive, affordable, diffusion collection that offers a complete array of menswear pieces and competitive pricing.

“We wanted to address the need for broader distribution and greater diversification in specific markets,” states Delgadillo.

“SANDANISTA’s progressive collection was designed to elevate the direction, perception and product assortment currently available at retail for the consumer at an affordable price.”

SANDANISTA comes from the name, Sandinista, a revolutionary party that overthrew the government and took power in Nicaragua from 1979 until 1990.

The Sandinistas philosophy was to free people from social, economic and political oppression - this mixture of causes made them very unique leaders.

SANDANISTA stems from the foundation and carefree idealism of COMUNE taking inspiration from the freethinking, revolutionary outlook of the Sandinistas with the mantra, Logic of the Majority.

“The concept of SANDANISTA allows us the opportunity as a small brand to bring a fresh, new creative outlook from design to marketing and apply it to a larger retail chain model.” continues Delgadillo.

“PacSun has expressed their interest in Comune and excitement over extending their brand assortment. We were up for the challenge to launch the concept with them first.”

Like COMUNE, SANDANISTA will continue to evolve as a new brand and revenue-driving leader. Long term growth plans within the brand model include international partnerships with select retail chains including BEAMS, Japan.

COMUNE: Spring // Summer Two Thousand and Eleven

Here is a teaser that I just received from COMUNE: the Spring//Summer Two Thousand and Eleven Collection:

Function
COMUNE was formed from the idea that there will always be people out there who not only embrace the rawness and imperfections of everyday life but use it to creatively push the boundaries of what’s possible in skateboarding, fashion, art, and music their own way, with complete disregard of the consequences.

Purpose
Our goal is to provide clothing that reflects this lifestyle of carefree idealism and to support the people that choose to live it.

Collection
Spring // Summer Two Thousand and Eleven is a collection focused on classic, easy to wear warm weather silhouettes meshed with tri-picked o oxford, yarn-dyed plaid corduroy, oil coated cotton (for those Spring rainy days), and brushed denim. Key styles like the Alton Woven, Ben Fleece, Kelly Denim, and Diego Jacket show this combination of design elements perfectly.

COMUNE: On the Way to One Year!

For autumn/winter 2010, COMUNE will be celebrating its one-year anniversary! In preparation for the big event, however, the brand-new label has launched its spring/summer collection.

Based in Costa Mesa, California, COMUNE was created last year for individuals who know how to embrace the imperfections of everyday life and turn them into creative opportunities that push the boundaries of what is possible, regardless of the consequences.

Carefree and idealistic, COMUNE reflects the creativity of the contemporary street culture.

“We got together on the premise that we’d inspire each other by just doing the work that we do as individuals, in our own mediums. It is a truly authentic group of creative minds, artistic hands and creative athletes,” asserts founder Frank Delgadillo.

Frank Delgadillo is a native of Southern California who graduated from Chapmen University. Choosing to leave a career in Law, Frank followed his heart in designing clothing, fusing indie influences from Tokyo with the underground artist scene in the US.

Since COMUNE’s mantra is “Something Better Change,” why not have a look at their spring/summer collection and see what has been changing!
