You don't sit down to watch a Viktor & Rolf runway show thinking you're going to get a look at the latest trends. You go because they put the show in "runway show." Known for their sometimes ironic and humorous take on fashion, they didn't disappoint on that front this time. Pieces that rip apart both the classic men's shirt and what one expects from the classic men's shirt, with asymettrical hems and cuffs repeating all the way up the sleeve, side by side with pieces that literally rip apart our expectations of what a wedding gown is supposed to look like. It's a fun and outrageous collection; exactly what you want from V&R.
We love the colors, especially the blues and oranges; we also love the vertical striped tights and the shoes, as well as some of the shirt dresses. We don't love that top-heavy silhouette that repeats itself a couple times too many, all puffy shoulders and big arms. We also don't love the preponderance of shiny-shiny, but again, that's a bit of a parody of bridal wear.
There's just one question remaining: Is that last piece Lady Gaga's wedding gown? It would be a crime against fashion if it wasn't.
