PR: Christopher and Michael C.

Knocking them out, two by two.

We've looked at enough of Christopher's work to make a declaration.

He makes perfectly decent salable clothing, but he's not the kind of designer Project Runway is looking for.

Honestly, and we don't mean this as an insult, these are basic department store clothes, like most of what he's done in the competition.

There's some slight visual interest with the drape of the top and how he did the straps, but that's about it. Otherwise, it's pretty bland.

He has yet to show anything that looks high end, let alone innovative.

A resort collection isn't just "clothes you wear on your vacation," it's meant to evoke a high end feel to it, as if the hypothetical customer does nothing but flit from resort to resort during the season. This is more like a cute outfit for someone's Labor Day barbecue.

Tim Gunn's Workroom:

Did we nail it or what when we declared him a tacky queen before the show even started?

This definitely has a resort collection feel to it. The problem is, it would have to be a resort collection from about 5 years back. That super wide-legged silhouette simply doesn't look fresh or modern at all.
And while we don't LOVE the choice of fabric, he could have made it work for a resort look. Just not THIS resort look.

And maybe when the other designers say he can't sew, they're overstating it...

But he definitely can't fit. We realize the model isn't exactly well endowed, but you have to make some sort of concession to the idea of a bust in your design. This just hangs on her, which brings us to our next point.

Once again, someone chose a really big, really showy accessory off the wall to do more work than an accessory should. This design should stand on its own without the belt there to give the garment shape and to draw the eye in. If we could make one change to the format of the show, then we'd ensure that the accessories wall is stocked only with very basic bags, belts and shoes. These showier pieces are being used as crutches too much.
