"Baby it's cold outside?" We realize little coffeeshop sidewalk chalkboards have to come up with something, but only if he's wearing 30 pounds of clothing and only showing skin in the area from his eyebrows to his chin; THEN you can say it's cold outside. We miss the long-ago days of simply running outside without ever having to stop and spend ten minutes wrapping yourself in wool like a mummy.
But we digress. Let's get a closer look.
Mmm, mm. The boy fills out a pair of jeans nicely, yes? This is the perfect way for a young male star to dress when he's out getting his coffee and he knows the paps will be following. You could keep track of that red plaid from two blocks away. Plus, it makes for a nice visually interesting look, with the grey jeans, white shirt and red plaid flannel. Very graphic. The bulge and the shoulders are both highlighted to good effect. Well done, Chris Pine.
Let's talk men in plaid for a second, kittens.
Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011 Collection
Plaid is very much on trend right now for men and has been for a bit. What Chris is wearing on the street is a reflection of what has trickled down from the runways. Now, we've been on a little clothes-shopping spree for NYFW and there are times when Tom has to physically pry yet another plaid item out of Lorenzo's hands. The boy is in plaid heaven but he needs to show a little restraint or he's going to hit Lincoln Center looking like Pee Wee Herman. Tom, following the same logic that prevents him from wearing denim jackets (i.e., it makes him look totally Jethro) is a bit judicious in his plaids, preferring only small plaids with (usually) several colors to them. Lorenzo likes the big plaids with only two or three colors to them and, since he's built like a mannequin, can pretty much get away with any kind of plaid. He even has a pair of plaid super-skinny jeans. Our point? Well, we have no point. How much of a point can you have when you're talking about plaid?
So in sum, Chris Pine and his bulge getting coffee in plaid? A treat for the eyes. T Lo wearing plaid to NYFW? Well, that's just good sense.
