Okay, Carey? Well, we want to be careful here because she's doing something we can't help but applaud; she's taking risks on the red carpet. Our first impulse was, "A print? On the red carpet?!?" That was wrong of us and we apologize to Carey and the internet. We shouldn't be limiting in our thinking on such things.
Having said that, we don't like the look. Had she belted the dress, the way the model did, that would have gone a long way toward helping things. And we hate that just-above-the-ankle hem. We don't think that's flattering on anyone. It instantly makes your feet look a couple sizes bigger. Of course, the shoes she's wearing are a total disaster as well. We don't know what she or her (presumably) mincing British stylist were thinking. Oh, of course. They were thinking they should just duplicate what the model's wearing. Bad idea. Plus, we're not loving the hair. It looked cuter at her photocall the other day. It pains us to say this, but Carey Mulligan is OUT. There's a first time for everything.
