We Got Our PR Finale Tickets and Now We're Concerned

A little discussion to tide you over until the Mad Style post goes up.

So, you will all be happy and not at all jealous to hear that we got our tickets for the PR finale show during fashion week. As always, looking forward to it.

But we got to thinking...the finale show is on September 9th, a week from today. That means whoever's left standing tonight will probably be showing a collection next week, either as a decoy or as a finalist. That'll be ten collections, just like last season. It surprises us that they're going this route. There was a lot of backlash about the "everyone's a winner!" feel of last season's over-long runway show. Showing at fashion week is one of the major goals of any PR contestant and should be a reward for making it far in the competition. It leaves a sour taste in our mouths that it's been so cheapened.

And besides, anyone with a decent eye in that tent last year could tell pretty quickly who were the decoys and who were the finalists, because, sorry to be blunt, someone who gets eliminated in week 6 is usually not polished enough or interesting enough for a collection on a New York Fashion Week runway and their deficiencies show pretty glaringly.

Don't get us wrong. Sitting in the tent, we get to watch over an hour of fashion walk past us, so that's always fun. But like we said, it really cheapens the competition to so freely hand out what used to be a reward for the cream of the crop. We can handle 2 or 3 decoys, because the Top 5 or 6 designers of the season usually have something interesting to say on that runway.

What do you think? Should Lifetime and Bunim/Murray schedule the seasons around Fashion Week, like Bravo used to, so that this sort of thing doesn't happen? We say yes, but we want to hear what you have to say. And who knows? Maybe they want to hear it too.
