PR: Christopher and Valerie

Holiday? Pfft. We've got dresses to rip.

It seems that some viewers thought Christopher barely made any changes to his client's dress. We don't agree.

He changed it up about as much as anyone else did; it's just that his fabric was pretty overwhelming, so that's all you see when you see the dress.

And while we think the judges may have over-praised this fairly basic look, we think he did a pretty good job with it.

We usually don't like that bare-breasted one-shoulder look but it's working just fine here. Probably because he smartly chose a fabric that matched the existing fabric almost perfectly.

This was not an instance when contrast would have been called for. As we said, that's a busy enough fabric and doing the bust in, say, black, would have been a huge mistake.

Our only real problem with this look is the skirt, which doesn't appear to flatter her from certain angles.

It's fitted around the hips and butt and then sort of floats away from her thighs. It looks stiff to us.

And that hem looks pretty f'd up and uneven.

Still, he did a decent job. It helped tremendously that he wasn't working in a pink or blue satin, which made his dress stand out a little more, and it helps that the fabric he was given isn't usually what one thinks of when one thinks of bridesmaid dresses.

Val, you need to step it up. You can't go home because then we wouldn't have anymore deliciously campy screencaps like the one above.

And also, you can't go home because you're talented. We've seen your work up close and honey?

You are so much better than this.

Obligatory eye-searing shot of the original dress. That's more pink in one image than anyone needs to be subjected to.

She had a great-looking model with a great little bod on her and she did pretty much everything she could to disguise that fact.

Everything is too tight, the hem is too short, and the bust is huge and sits way too high on her.

Also, zipper.

Also also: color blocking. We love color blocking when it's done well, but this is like a textbook example of which areas of the body should NOT be highlighted.

And those slutstrings in the back! Honey, what were you thinking?

And we realize it's mostly not her fault in this instance, but we are getting SICK of seeing pink, white and black dresses on the runway this season. There needs to be a moratorium. Step it up, girl. We know you have it in you. Show us something like that fantastic little red number you did a couple weeks ago. Stuff like this isn't going to wow the judges.
