PR: Bottom Two

Take a seat, girls. We've got a lot of bitchery to catch up on.

Blah blah Ivy blah blah blah.

Look, all we're gonna say is this: it's not throwing someone under the bus if they basically back up everything you say. Michael D (to his credit) was quite open about the fact that his skills weren't up to the job. Was Ivy not supposed to mention that? Especially since it affected her design?

We're not saying she didn't deserve bottom 3; she absolutely did.

The difference between her score and Casanova's (on our imaginary score cards) was a hair's breadth.

Design-wise, she needed to give the judges a little more to go on.

The thing is, you actually would see something like this in a resort collection. It's not completely out of the question.

But this is a design competition and more importantly, a reality television show. She's not off base to think this belongs in a resort collection but what she didn't realize, what so many PR contestants don't realize, is that you're not producing a collection. You're producing a piece and because it's the only piece you're producing for that particular challenge, you have to go for some sort of wow factor.

Minimalism just doesn't have a place on Project Runway.

We don't really know what the outfit might have been if she'd made it herself. All we know is, she wound up sending something that was barely a step above a nightgown and that's a major sin on this show. We'll give them both credit for keeping it together during a really tense situation. All things considered, it could have been a lot worse.

She's spent so much time either on the bottom or getting ignored by the judges maybe it'll start sinking in that "The Ivy Show" isn't going to happen until she does something impressive.

"I've never been to a resort in my life. I don't even know what resortwear is." Seriously? How can a designer not know what resortwear is?

Still, we can't stay angry because he demonstrated a rare (for reality television) maturity by backing down from his Kewl Kidz posturing and admitting to Michael C that he was being a dick.

How much you wanna bet that was the first time in its history Lifetime broadcast the word "dick?" Congratulations, Lifetime!

This is 100 percent not an insult, although it's going to sound like one. This getup?

It's "Target cute." Something adorable you'll see on a mannequin in a juniors section.

Similar to Ivy's mistake, he designed something that isn't bad taken for what it is, but it's totally wrong for the challenge and the competition.

It's too young for resort. It's also too casual for resort.

But most important of all, it's too down-market for resort.

Resort is all about the image of the well-appointed woman making the social rounds during the summer season. It's not about giving a cute 16-year-old something to wear at the pool.

Had this been a "design a summer look for a teenager" challenge, it could have been a contender. Maybe it didn't deserve bottom 3, but it was so far off base that it was like sending a ball gown down the runway when the judges asked for a day look.
