V Magazine: High Society

You're no tramp, but you're no lady

In the "Who comes up with this stuff?" sweepstakes, we have to hand the prize to V Magazine. In its upcoming "New York Issue," V gathered up a gaggle of "notable NYC social women" (Barbara Bush, Minnie Mortimer, Maggie Betts, Allison Sarofim, Rachel Roy, Shoshanna Gruss, Dr. Lisa Airan, and Byrdie Bell) and handed them over to veteran photographer Terry Richardson, who dolled them all up as if it was 1978 and took a series of pretty amazing shots.

We first have to give it up for these ladies, who took quite a risk agreeing to do this. Terry doesn't always make his subjects look glamorous (or even good) to say the least, and the clothes weren't always the most flattering looks. As for the clothes, bravo again to the styling. This isn't the 1970s as seen through a 2010 lens. This IS the 1970s, especially the Manhattan 1970s look.
