The Rachel Zoe Project Starts Tonight!

She is shutting. It. Down.
It. Is. Bananas.

We recall the first time we talked about this show there was a lot of rending of garments and gnashing of teeth in the comments section. "T LO HOW COULD YOU?" the mob cried. "YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A COUPLE OF BRAVO WHORES!" which doesn't sound that bad to us, like we get paid to have sex with people and at the end they shout "BRAVO!"

But despite the accusations of "selling out," we happily watched the show and quickly fell in love with it. Rachel gets a ton of shit in the press and we're not saying she should be above criticism, but she's hardly the monster her critics claim her to be. In fact, she's quite likable on camera; a little funny, a little flighty, and more self-aware than people give her credit for. Plus, there's Brad, who's the star of the show, as far as we're concerned.

Anyway, we watched the screener for episode 1 and it looks to us like the show has improved immeasurably. First, the fun-sucking Taylor is out - and we have to say, we were shocked at the accusations that followed in her wake. Like, "bordering on slanderous" accusations. Hopefully, they're not going to spend the entire season harping on How Taylor Hurt Rachel's Feelings.

The good news is, Brad gets a promotion out of the deal and we get to follow the stylish duo to a Harper's Bazaar photo shoot with Demi Moore (which we covered in our own bitchy manner here). See, the one thing that was missing from the show was the celebrities. "I'm off to dress Anne Hathaway!" "Okay, I'm back from dressing Anne Hathaway!" Naturally, the viewer would want to see Anne Hathaway, but the stars were probably all understandably skittish about appearing on a reality show that wasn't about them. Apparently the success of the show has loosened some of them up, because there was Demi, for about half the program, working her shit pre-Photoshop. It's a great sequence and should put to bed some of the loudly expressed opinions that modeling isn't work. We were exhausted just watching her.

Better yet, the previews for the season show that more stars will be showing up on camera, from Kate Hudson to Johnny Weir. If you love fashion and the red carpet, we can't imagine why you wouldn't love this show. Rachel can get a little vapid and repetitive, but she is MILES ahead of that trainwreck Kelly Cutrone when it comes to watching a show about someone working in the fashion industry.

We don't have the sense to come in from the rain, so we'll be adding this show to our already heavy roster of shows to blog about. If you want to follow along, catch the premiere tonight on Bravo at 10/9C.
