PR: April and Ivy

Let's dance like peasants on shitty fabric, darlings!

Enh. It's bad, but looking at it now, it doesn't seem nearly as bad as Casanova's and Jason's.

It's got a shape and a certain point of view to it and if she'd had more time or made better decisions, it might have all come together.

Meaning, one reason Gretchen won is because she approached the challenge realistically and turned out a very simple dress that was for the most part perfectly finished and a little stylish.

This was not the time to pull all this deconstructed crap because as Michael pointed out, with a 5-hour challenge, it only looks like you didn't have time or didn't know how to finish.

She should have finished at least half the hems and seaming that needed to be done. Make the unfinished edges seem like a design choice.

And don't rely on a belt to give the outfit shape. You think Nina's going to fall for that trick?

Still, we kind of liked the proportions on it, especially the way she was looking at the shoulders. Three more inches on that skirt (and a finished hem) could have done wonders here.

We're not saying she's a contender or one to watch, not based on this outfit. But we are saying that it did have a little style to it and might have worked with more time. Although we have to admit, the hair and makeup choices were terrible.

"Okay, I know this sounds totally vain, but I think Project Runway is the Ivy Show. I'm a force to be reckoned with."

Oh, honey. Your foot is a force to be reckoned with, because we're pretty sure it invariably finds its way inside your mouth.

Yuck.

That blouse was a decent enough idea poorly executed and with no exit strategy.

There's all this exuberant, ribbony...stuff jammed up in it and then...nothing. Poorly finished hem, uninteresting halter.

And the shape is awful.

And there's a big bow, kittens. No, this top was just bad all around, but it pales in comparison to those pants.

Bottom line: she should never have used that fabric for a pant. First, because it's an ugly fabric for a pant; second, because THEY'RE ALREADY PANTS. THAT'S NOT DESIGNING, THAT'S FITTING. Any seamstress could do that! How could she possibly think that was a good idea?

Has she never seen the show before? Or has she seen it, but she's too busy reimagining it as The Ivy Show to pay attention? Because anyone who's seen more than one episode of Project Runway would know that there's no way the judges would look kindly on this choice. Imagine if this was the Saturn challenge. She'd rip off a car seat, poke holes in it for the arms, and send it down the runway calling it couture.

And capris, honey? Really?

Not to mention, the fabric choice for the top makes no sense in relation to the fabric on the bottom. Basically, this look is nothing but one bad design decision after another. This really belonged in the bottom 3 with Jason and Casanova.
