Hit it, art bitches!
It was cute enough. What appeals to us about Peregrine's work is that it's subtly subversive within the confines of a reality show. Last week she drew the hostess with syphilis and this week she's sarcastically embracing the commercialism of the challenge. You gotta love that.
Do not get. We guess he was trying to show his softer side and all, but we're not sure what it had to do with the challenge. Then again, the challenge was pretty stupid and they gave the win to someone who didn't really fulfill it, so there you go. We're sure this had meaning for him, and he did explain what he was going for, but this does nothing for us.
We kind of loved this. Don't ask us to explain it to you because we don't get it either, but in terms of art that stops you in your tracks and forces you to consider it, this works for us. It's expansive, but it draws you closer in and there's a tension hanging over the whole thing. Thoughtful and expressive.
J'ADORE. We thought this was hilarious. If you're going to put yourself in your artwork, you might as well have a sense of humor about it. Compare this to Ryan's "I wanted to look cool" self-portrait. There is, as we said, a sense of humor to this, as well as a sense of life and action. In addition, he's making commentary about celebrity and commercialism which lifts this up from being merely a funny self-portrait.
