In or Out: Chanel Ladies

It's a mizzy, rainy, muggy Saturday, so let's all practice our judging.

Leighton Meester, Milla Jovovich, and Jessica Alba attended the Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2010 show at Grand Palais in Paris dressed to the nines. Hit it, ladies.

Hunh.

It's a lot of look and we'll give her credit for going there. The necklace was definitely a bridge too far, but the dress is really interesting and of course, totally appropriate for the event. Simple hair and slightly smokey eye? Good choices. Not our favorite shoes, but they certainly go with the dress. IN.

She's such a beautiful woman and to her credit, she does dress well when she goes out, but she always looks, we don't know, unpolished somehow. Half-assed and last minute. Her makeup is really nice, but it looks like 30 seconds of thought and effort were put into the hair. The purse slung on her shoulder like she's riding the subway doesn't help. We like the dress in theory but we don't think it's doing her figure any favors. She's shapeless. Nice legs, though. If we had a grading scale, this would be a B- or C+, but since we're terribly binary here, we're going for OUT. It's just not coming together. And her jewelry pieces are fighting each other for focus.

To us, this looks like textbook bad accessorizing. Really pretty hair and makeup and a simple and beautiful dress which has been almost completely obliterated by focus-pulling, poorly chosen accessories. That belt is totally wrong for that dress. The way it sits an inch or two below the bust seam is distracting, as if it slipped down. We're thinking the dress either requires a sash or at least a thicker belt. The shoes aren't awful but they draw the eye down too much. They wouldn't have been our choice. Again, it's not all bad, but here at Judgmental Bitchiness Central, you're either IN or you're OUT and we're gonna have to go with OUT on this one.

These are your Saturday discussion points. We will take a small break in the afternoon for coffee and cinnamon rolls. Begin.
