What I love most about fashion is that it has all to do about identity; that is, one’s culture, cuisine, history, and demographic context.
This is what intrigues me so much about designers like Billy Reid, a US designer and Southern Boy at Heart.
Influenced by numerous elements of his Southern environs, Billy Reid binds with his roots in each collection, while offering solidarity to his compatriots in times of calamity.
Now, Billy Reid will be at an in-store celebration on Saturday, June 12th in support of Jim ’N Nick’s Bar-B-Q, a renowned BBQ restaurant in Alabama, participating in the Eighth Annual Big Apple Bar-B-Q Block Party.
Jim ’N Nick’s Bar-B-Q is a proud sponsor of the Southern Foodways Alliance, an organization that preserves the history of Southern culture, a shared passion of co-member Billy Reid.
The event will be from 7pm-9pm at 54 Bond St. and Jim ’N Nick’s will provide local beverages, Pork Tacos, and Slow Roasted Bar-B-Q from a pig roast that will be on display in front of the store.
