The Vintage Heritage of Stone Island

By now you have probably figured out that I am totally a history buff; so this collection really excites me! The look, colors, and designs are also striking! As for key words, they are functionality and protection.

The inspiration is rooted in the helmets of top gun, Russian pilots, as well as in the world of Anglo-American work and outdoors, abounding in internal details of tapes, strings, and earflaps.

One garment—the Ice Jacket—changes color when the fabric reaches 10-15° Celsius (50-59° Fahrenheit ), passing through intermediate prismatic effects.

Stone Island was formed “by chance” in 1982 by Massimo Osti of Bologna, Italy—one of the first designers in the Seventies who understood the value of military vintage.

Founded as C.P. Company, the name of the company was soon changed to Stone Island to evoke a military, marine feel.

Massimo Osti laid the framework of the brand by examining, researching, and perfecting the functional characteristics of pockets, fastenings, worn looks, and faded colors and reproducing them into sophisticated sportswear garments.

Now, each collection is designed by a multicultural team that interprets the brand’s identity into modern looks.
