Oscars 2010 Part 2

Don't you forget about Molly.

Anna Kendrick in Elie Saab Spring 2010 Couture

To be honest, there was way too much pink on the carpet last night (and less than pretty shades of it), but this one was our favorite. We're torn on the way she repositioned the strap but we can't deny we think this was one of the best looks of the night. Not so crazy about the hair, though.

Helen Mirren in Badgley Mischka

Gorgeous. Part of us wonders if those barely-there sleeves were a little "fuck off" to those who say women of a certain age should cover their arms.

Jennifer Lopez in Armani Privé

TOO. MUCH. DRESS. That flounce is huge and looks totally incongruous, as if it was stapled on at the last minute. Without it, this look could have been a contender.

Diane Kruger in Chanel Fall 2009 Couture

We were not loving Uncle Karl's contributions to the red carpet last night. To be blunt, we thought this was flat out ugly.

Kate Winslet in Yves Saint Laurent

The hair, makeup and jewelry are all flawless, but we did not love this dress. Silver was the other big color of the night, but the fact that the bodice and the skirt are two different silvers was distracting to us and we just don't like that line that cuts across her right at the hip.

Kathryn Bigelow in Yves Saint Laurent Edition Soire

This dress has been coming in for some criticism today but we really like it. The only issue is that puckering right around her pelvis. She's got an incredible body for any age (but an astounding one for a 58-year-old), so we think she could have had this altered to go up half a size. In every shot of her, she looks like she's holding her stomach in. Normally, we'd hate a bodice made up of little hearts, but to be honest, we didn't even notice they were hearts until looking at the pictures this morning.

Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham

Ugh. Please go away. We've tried in the past to give her the benefit of the doubt - and if we're being kind, we can still give her props for not dressing slutty like so many teen celebrities - but this looks old, and bland and ill-fitting. And we hate to sound like cranky septuagenarians but young lady, you need to stand up straight.

Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Spring 2010 Couture [Modified]

By far the biggest what-the-fuck of the night. Even if we ignore the deflated cinnaboobs, we can't get past the hideous shades of pink. When Charlize nails it she really nails it, but we haven't seen her nail it on a red carpet in a long time. New gays are required.

Molly Ringwald

Show of hands: how many 40-somethings suddenly felt very fucking old when the creaky-looking brat packers came out for that sweet tribute to John Hughes?

This is another dress that's been inexplicably criticized a lot today. We really like it. Love the color and love the brooch-like piece on the hip. Look, she's not 16 anymore and she's not a size 0. So what? (they said defensively, clutching their high school yearbooks) We think it's a stylish look. The real wrong turn here is the hair, which looks like a bad wig.

Fuck it. We're heading off to i-tunes to buy some Simple Minds and OMD.

Queen Latifah in Badgley Mischka

Another shade of pink that we like less and less the more we look at it. We'd probably give this 4 thumbs up if it was in a jewel tone, but satin-y dusty pinks give us bad flashbacks to '80s bridal parties. We're torn on the diagonal running across the bodice. Should it have been a simple horizontal waist band? You tell us.
