Rodarte Fall 2010 Collection

This one needs an explanation first:

"Before their show, the sisters explained that a long drive from El Paso to Marfa, Texas, got them thinking they might like to explore their Mexican roots. From there, they became interested in the troubled border town of Ciudad Juárez; the hazy, dreamlike quality of the landscape there; and the maquiladora workers going to the factory in the middle of the night. And that, according to the designers, who certainly know how to romance a pitch, led to this conclusion: They'd build a collection off the idea of sleepwalking."

We love those girls but they do have a tendency to overthink things. Still, it's the key to their success. It would be easy to call some of these looks overworked but that's the whole point. It wouldn't be Rodarte if it wasn't overworked. And while their inspiration story seemed somewhat manic and rambling in its explanation, we can't deny that these clothes display a unique and modern form of beauty that nonetheless has an earlier, old country feel to it. In other words, they accomplished exactly what they set out to do and made dream-like clothes that you can't look away from.
