Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 Collection
Marc Jacobs, on his collection:
"It's refreshing to see something that isn't trying so hard to be new. There's so much striving for newness now that newness feels less new."
God, the things that fashion people say. They somehow manage to be both true and so absurd as to be beyond parody at the same time.
We get what he meant, though. The overwhelming sense we get from this collection is a sort of comfortable, romantic feel. Non-threatening clothes. A collection that basically says, "Here's your wardrobe for the season." Designers interpret times of economic uncertainty in different ways, and with this collection, we get a definite "bang for your buck" vibe. Not a look is wasted on anything too far away from what's salable and even practical, knowing what he knows about his customer base.
